Dungeon time records

What is timed, when it counts, where it shows and how to lower your time in the two dungeons.

What is timed

In dungeons you don't compete for score but for clear time, and the lowest wins.

In the Frozen Ghost Dungeon the map clock counts, from when you enter until you use the exit, walk to the portal included. In the Dwarven Dungeon the total time of the four phases counts, until you use the portal of the last one; the loading screens between phases don't count.

When it counts

  • The time is saved the instant you use the exit for the first time: dying or abandoning afterwards doesn't erase it.
  • Boss dead but exit unused = no record (“Dungeon not completed”).
  • In the Dwarven Dungeon only a run started in phase 1 counts.
  • A run in which debug mode was turned on saves no record.
  • Steam discards times under 30 seconds or over 6 hours.

Where it shows

The end screen (“RUN FINISHED”) shows your “Dungeon time”, your best time for the mode and, if you beat it, “New time record!”. History shows the time instead of the score. In Stats, each dungeon has its own time boards —solo and co-op, plus one per race— with “Friends top” and “Global top”, and times appear as mm:ss.cc rows.

How to lower your time

  • Plan the route. In the Frozen Ghost the three finds of the first step are on different storeys: check them on the Tab map before you run.
  • Don't stop for everything. Chests, altars and NPCs cost seconds: take what you need to kill the boss fast and nothing more.
  • Reach the boss early. Its health scales with the difficulty at the moment it appears, and difficulty rises with time: the sooner you wake it, the less health it has.
  • An area build for the forge. In phase 3 of the Dwarven Dungeon the objective is kills: whatever mass-kills shortens the phase.
  • Use the portal as soon as it opens. The boss's chests are right there, but every second counts.
  • In co-op, split up. The finds of one step count for everybody; just remember that each machine saves its own time when it uses the exit.
Watch outScore doesn't count in dungeons: every enemy you kill “for fun” is time lost.
