Map NPCs
Merchant, Apothecary, and Blacksmith: what each one offers, what it pays, and how many there are per map, in v0.9.16.
How many and where
The Survival maps lay out their NPC spots when the run starts and keep them fixed; the dungeons use hand-placed spots. Either way, which NPC lands on each spot is rolled every run, and they're repositioned when you advance a phase (and the merchant refreshes its offers). The Dwarven Dungeon gets one row per phase: each phase is a different scene with its own NPCs, and phase 4 has a single merchant, always on the same spot.

| Meadow Forest | 8 | 3 | 5 |
| Corrupted Desert | 8 | 3 | 5 |
| Swamp Marshland | 6 | 2 | 4 |
| Frozen Ghost Dungeon | 6 | 3 | 3 |
| Dwarven Dungeon · phase 1 | 3 | 1 | 2 |

The Merchant
Sells 3 offers at a time, drawn from the game's 100 offers with these category weights: runes 35 · passives 30 · artifacts 15 · infusions 10 · healing 8 · mana 7 · token 3. Rarity is rolled separately, in two steps, and prices carry a random discount — never below 25 % of the base price.
The Reroll Token re-rolls its offers without spending gold.
Prices go up 100% per phase. The price you see on this wiki is the phase‑1 price: the same item costs ×2 in phase 2 and ×3 in phase 3 (and stays at ×3 through the endless overtime). It applies to all three cards and to rerolling offers as well (20 → 40 → 60 gold); the Reroll Token stays free. The Merchant Seal discount is applied afterwards, on top of the raised price, so it keeps its value. In the Frozen Ghost Dungeon (a single phase) the price is always the phase‑1 one; in the Dwarven Dungeon it rises the same way with no cap: ×2, ×3 and ×4 in its phases 2, 3 and 4 (the phase‑4 merchant charges four times the price).

The Apothecary (quests)
This is the quest NPC. Accept its request — kill 150 + 50 × Phase of a specific enemy, chosen by spawn weight so it's a common one — and only one quest can be active at a time.
Turning it in, you choose 1 of 3 artifacts (prioritizing Rare or higher among the eligible ones; if no eligible artifact is left — all 10 slots full and maxed — the cards fill with Rare or Legendary passive items) and collect 50 Mithril + 300 gold. Each apothecary pays out only once, and the quest state resets when you advance a phase (also in every phase of the Dwarven Dungeon, which brings its own apothecaries).

The Blacksmith
Offers 3 cards; each card is an eligible weapon upgrade plus a random stat upgrade, and picking one applies both. One use per blacksmith. If your set has no weapon upgrade left, the card becomes the stat upgrade alone (with the icon of the matching Global Upgrade), and the blacksmith honors your banishes: a banished rune family takes its stat off the table too. The possible stat upgrades:
- +5 base damage
- +5% move speed
- +5% attack speed
- +20 max health
- +15 max mana
- +3% critical chance
- +5 armor
